Minnesota picked up a huge commitment figuratively and literally in Springfield (IL.) Sacred Heart Griffin senior offensive tackle Quinn Oseland. He recently was on campus for their recruiting BBQ and came away very impressed. It looked like this race was down to Illinois and Minnesota, but in the end the Gophers won. Just looking over some of his film briefly, I can see he fits exactly what Minnesota is trying to be in their smash mouth style of play and running the ball downhill.
With this commitment, the Gophers now have the No. 66 ranked recruiting class in the nation and Oseland becomes the fourth offensive lineman in the class joining Bronson Dovich, Ted Stieber and Nick Connelly. He also becomes the fourth commit from the state of Illinois.
The 6-6, 300-pound physical lineman is ranked the No. 66 ranked offensive tackle in the nation and is a three star recruit. He held offers from Arizona State, California, Cincinnati, Connecticut, Florida Atlantic, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan State, Mississippi State, NC State, Northern Illinois, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Syracuse, Toledo and Utah.
Below is his announcement he made that he was committing to Minnesota via Twitter:
