Midwest: Week One Top Performers

Some of the Midwest's top performers from week one as high school football kicked off in Indiana, Wisconsin and Kentucky.

INDIANA

Warren Central safety Mykelti Williams had an interception and the game winning touchdown run as the Warriors defeated Center Grove in overtime. Williams has multiple BCS offers and is currently ranked as the number six player in the state.

The state's top quarterback prospect, Indiana commit Tommy Stevens and his Decatur Central squad fell to Franklin Central 26-21, but Stevens passed for 265 yards and ran for a score in the contest.

Purdue commit Markell Jones rushed for 301 yards and two touchdowns as Columbus East defeated Bloomington North.

Winchester's Kiante Enis, a 6-foot-2 junior, rushed for 217 yards and four touchdowns in a win over South Adams.

Fort Wayne Homestead junior receiver Ben Skowronek (6-3, 195) had five receptions for 208 yards and four touchdowns in Friday's 49-6 victory over Huntington North.

Tri-West fell to West Lafayette but senior defensive tackle Mac Dutra recorded nine tackles (three for loss), forced one fumble and blocked a punt in the loss.

In his first start for Carmel, junior quarterback Michael Vikturp (6-1, 200) completed 7 of 10 passes for 68 yards and rushed for 146 yards and the go ahead score in the Greyhounds' 14-7 win over Hamilton Southeastern.

Ben Davis senior quarterback Kyle Castner went 27 for 41, 350 yards and two touchdowns in the Giants' 44-19 victory over Indianapolis Cathedral.

Terre Haute South quarterback Timmy Herrin passed for 360 yards and three touchdowns in their win over Evansville North.


WISCONSIN

Northern Illinois commit Alec Ingold rushed for 215 yards and three touchdowns and passed for 46 more yards in Bay Port's 42-12 victory over DePere.

Not to be outdone, Bowling Green commit James Morgan lead Green Bay Ashwaubenon to a 31-17 victory over Green Bay Preble by passing for 333 yards and two touchdowns.

Waunakee senior running back Troy Laufenberg posted 350 yards and five touchdowns to lead his team to a 49-20 opening night win over Madison Edgewood.

In a week one shootout, Wisconsin Lutheran defeated Milwaukee Marquette University behind senior Logan McShane (6-3, 180) who passed for 218 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for another. Marquette U's Charlie Greif passed for 367 yards and five scores in a losing effort.

KENTUCKY

Caldwell County four-star quarterback Elijah Sindelar went 27-of-42 passing for 433 yards and five touchdowns, leading his team to 78 points in their win over Christian County. Senior running back Jaylen Boyd rushed for 293 yards and four touchdowns, adding one more receiving.

The state's top recruit, Madison Southern running back Damien Harris, overcame some tough early sledding and finished with 123 yards and touchdown runs of 51 and 75 yards in the Eagles' 24-7 victory over Rockcastle County. The game was called before the start of the 3rd quarter due to lightning.

Louisville Manual senior running back Michael Nero, who holds a Toledo offer, rushed for 160 yards and three touchdowns on just 14 carries to lead Manual past Central 41-7.
