McFadden impressed by WVU game

Four-star safety Kendrell McFadden is committed to West Virginia but has always planned on taking some visits. After seeing the way the Mountaineers played against Alabama last week, the Miramar (Fla.) standout is loving WVU even more.

Kendrell McFadden has maintained throughout his recruitment that he’ll take some his visits, but at this time, West Virginia remains pretty solid on top.

“It’s still the same, they’re still high on my list. Right now, nobody else can move them, especially after that Alabama game. That Alabama game was big eye-opener for a lot of big recruits for West Virginia,” McFadden said.

“(I was impressed with) the way they could move the ball down the field, the way the defense was able to swarm around the field and everything.”

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound four-star safety was especially excited about the opportunity he could see for himself to make an impact in the Mountaineers’ defense.

“(The game) made me feel good. I felt like the problem West Virginia had a little bit was with the DBs, that’s what made me feel just a little good because I play DB and I’m coming in next year,” he said.

Miramar high school is now home to four West Virginia commitments. McFadden, Khalil Lewis, Alex Anderson, and Jovon Durante. McFadden says they’re all working hard on teammate Tyrek Cole, a Florida State commit. It could be working.

“We talk about (our commitments) a little bit, but we’re trying to get Tyrek to come on, that’s really our main project right now is trying to get Tyrek to come over with us,” he said.

McFadden isn’t sure about his official visit plans at this time. He first has to take the ACT next week.

“Right after I take that, I should start making my official visits and all of that,” he said.

McFadden says he talks to WVU coaches “every day” and also talks to coaches at Auburn, Ohio State, LSU, and NC State. Any of those programs could get him for an official.
