Pocic Commits to Illinois

Ron Zook and the recruiting machine that makes up the Illinois staff hooked another big fish today when Lemont, Ill., native Graham Pocic decided to stay in state, choosing the Illini over Wisconsin, Michigan, Florida and a number of other top programs from around the nation.

Lemont Township High School offensive tackle Graham Pocic had narrowed the field down to four teams in Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan and Florida recently after being offered by approximately two dozen programs over the past several months. Today the 6-foot-6, 313-pound offensive tackle chose to end his recruitment, giving the final nod to Illinois in what is considered by many to be a mild upset.

"I just committed to Illinois tonight," Pocic said. "I didn't have time to call you tonight and talk about it, but wanted to make sure I let you know."

Pocic had been expected to commit to Illinois for some time now, however the most popular opinion was that he would be bound for Madison or Ann Arbor according to many experts. Illinois has done another excellent job keeping an extremely talented prospect in state, adding onto a stellar Class of 2007.

We will have more on Pocic's commitment later….
