1st Team All-State

Tig Barksdale

Ole Miss placed a total of 5 1st Team All-State selections by the Clarion Ledger this morning, which is the only poll that takes in all of the classifications, public and private. They were RB Darius Barksdale (named Mr. Football in the state of Mississippi), DE Josh Tillman, CB Derrick Herman, LB Marlon Walls, and OL Quinn Sanford.

There are several more players that made the 1st Team All-State team that the Rebels are hot after in DT Bo Tillman, WR DeAndre Brown (Mr. Football Finalist), OL James Brown, DL Terrance Pope, CB Alonzo Lawrence (Mr. Football Finalist), DB Charles Mitchell, Ath Akeem Davis, and dBKendrick Presley.

The Bulldogs are also heavily in the mix for a couple of DB's who made the team in Charles Mitchell and Alonzo Lawrence and have also offered a greyshirt to Columbus' OL Tobias Smith.

USM does not currently have any All-State commitments from the state of Mississippi but look for them to get in the mix with players like dBKendrick Presley, Ath Timothy Graham, Ath Akeem Davis, and DL Terrance Pope in the next several weeks.

The only other school to place a 1st Team All-State selection was La Tech in QB Bret Jefcoat..

2nd Team All-State

Ole Miss placed two commits on the 2nd Team in DT Willie Packer and LB Josh Chestang out of Moss Point. The Rebels are also in the mix with LB Ramon Blakeney and DL Andre Wadley.

The only other BCS college to have a representative on the 2nd Team was Auburn in dBDrew Cole.

Templton Hardy

MSU has a total of 4 players committed from Mississippi that made neither team. They are 3 star DL Joshua Jackson, 4 star DL Templeton Hardy, 3 star DL Devin Jones (ACL tear which caused him to miss his senior season), and 3 star RB Montario Patterson.

Ole Miss had three commitments from the Magnolia state that failed to make either squad in 3 star dBBud Barksdale, 3 star dBDominique Davenport, and 2 star WR Horatio Williams.

There were no more D1 commits from Mississippi that failed to make either squad.

They are 5 Star WR DeAndre Brown (Mr. Football Finalist), 4 Star CB Alonzo Lawrence (Mr. Football Finalist), 4 Star DT Bo Tillman, 4 star DL Andre Wadley, Mississippi's Gatorade Player of the Year in Charles Mitchell, 3 star Kendrick Presley, and 3 star Ath Rashun Dixon who may opt out of football altogether and go in the upcoming baseball draft.

4 star RB Ken Davis failed to qualify and is already enrolled at ICC.

Several more highly regarded players from the All-State team that are expected to sign on the D1 level are Ath Akeem Davis, DL Terrance Pope, and OL James Brown.
