UA/Scout.com Combine Tour Hits New Orleans

Chris Davenport

The UA/Scout.com Combine tour will be making a stop in New Orleans this weekend as some of the top prospects from Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, and Alabama will be putting their skills on display.

With the ACT being administered on Saturday combined with spring games at Ole Miss, Alabama and Southern Miss, the field of contestants may not be as big as it was last year but there will still be plenty of high-profile prospects and talent for us to evaluate.

Topping the list of prospects from the Bayou State is the nation’s 2nd ranked defensive tackle Chris Davenport and the 5th ranked running back Michael Ford.

Davenport has offers from schools from coast to coast and Ford is already committed to LSU but both are so competitive that they elected to attend the combine to get in some extra work.

Some other top prospects from Louisiana scheduled to be at the New Orleans Saints Training Facility on Saturday include Darrington Sentimore, who is the 13th ranked defensive tackle in the country, along with Scout 300 players like Tahj Jones, Eddie Lacy and Ridge Turner.

Several other prospects with scholarship offers expected to be there include Wes Luquette, Patrick Lewis, Jordan James, Lamin Barrow, and Terrance Johnson amongst others.

A strong contingent or prospects from Texas are expected to make their way over to New Orleans with Kenric McNeal, Hassan Lipscomb, Kolby Gray, Willie Jefferson, Kenneth Bibbins, Broderick Jackson, Josh Bell, Alex Tweedy, Chance Filer, and Collin Renton leading the way.

McNeal is a member of the Scout 300 and is one of the top wide outs in the Lonestar State while Lipscomb is one of the fastest prospects overall.

Gray should dazzle the crowd with his passing skills in the position drills later in the day and two big targets he will be throwing to are Jefferson and Bibbens.

Many of the prospects in Mississippi and Alabama will be heading to the Ole Miss and Alabama spring game but there will be some guys representing those two states as well.

The weekend should be a big hit for all of those in attendance and whenever UnderArmour and Scout.com get together to put on an event it’s always done first-class.

Be sure and check back on Sunday and all of next week as we will have tons of coverage from Saturday’s combine.
