Travis Bell is a standout defensive back prospect from Glades Central High and he confirmed to Scout…
Scout's Take: West Virginia S commit
What to Like: Bell is built the way you want when looking at major college prospects in the secondary. He's a legit 6-foot-1, has long arms, an athletic build, and looks to have a projectable frame. Athletically, he has a lot of the tools you look for. He has experience playing both corner and safety and will likely play safety in college. He has plus cover skills from that position, ideal size, good athletic ability, and he comes from one of the state's premier programs. Glades is loaded with college prospects so Bell's used to being in a competitive environment where winning is top priority. Every college program could use some of that and Bell will bring plenty of it. What may concern you: He needs to make sure his motor stays running all the time. He needs to focus on staying motivated at all times. While he runs well, he doesn't have great speed and that's probably why he'll end up playing safety instead of corner at the college level. He's rarely tested at the prep level against the opposition and usually relies on athletic ability alone. He'll need to refine his skills, develop some better technique, and just focus on becoming more of a complete defensive back. Bottom Line: The Mountaineers are getting another quality player from one of the state's top prep programs. Bell is a plus athlete at safety and brings a lot of physical tools to the table.
