Huskers offer Florida DE
Max Beaulieu and his Fort Lauderdale (Flor.) University team is running pretty good right now. They are well into conference play, eight teams in the conference, and things look good for a playoff birth. "Everything is going alright so far," Beaulieu said. "We are 4-2 and a lot of those are already conference games. There are eight teams in our conference so we have seven conference games." While Beaulieu will tell you that he is doing well and only has 17 tackles through six games you might wonder how that is a good season? The highly touted defensive end has been playing very little defense this season. "Personally I am doing well. I think that I only have two sacks and only 17 tackles. I am not playing defense a lot. I am mostly playing offensive line. We were missing a lot of players. "I am playing left tackle this year just because they needed someone to, but all of the college coaches that I talk to like me as a defensive end at the next level." As a defensive end, at 6-foot-3 and 240-pounds, he claims a 4.8/40 time which would give him a very quick time off the edge. Beaulieu also says that he has a lot of physical strength that helps him at the defensive end position. "I have good technique and I have speed for my size so I use that to my advantage. I am a lot stronger than kids in our conference so I use that to my advantage as well." Beaulieu hasn't taken any official visits yet, but the first one is coming toward the end of this month. After that, there is maybe one other school that can count on an official from him and a bunch of others that he is considering. "I haven't taken any official visits yet, but I will be taking one October 24th to Purdue. That is the only one I have planned so far. Wake Forest will be another I will take a visit to. "Other than those two I would say that I am still considering Illinois, Arkansas, Tennessee, South Carolina and a couple of others that I am considering for those last visits." When Beaulieu makes his college choice is will weigh heavily on how he feels at the school that he chooses. He wants that family environment and a tight coaching staff as well. "Just how I feel in that environment, is it a family environment, and the coaching staff. I am also looking at playing time." The Nebraska Cornhuskers recently offered both Beaulieu and David Perry, another defensive end from University High School. Beaulieu said that Nebraska has been in contact with him and that he would consider visiting Nebraska. "Yes sir, David and I both picked up offers from Nebraska recently. I am open to anything and I have been talking to Coach Tim Beck about Nebraska. "I haven't had a chance to see Nebraska on TV this year, but I haven't had a chance to watch any games this year. I am still open to seeing Nebraska." One might wonder if the Nebraska offer is just too late. Since Beaulieu claims to still be open he said that Nebraska will still be a team he will look at. "No they didn't offer too late because I am still open overall. The timing of their offer to me really doesn't matter or bother me."
