Martay Mattox Checking Out Options

Clarke Central quarterback Martay Mattox is quite the athlete and has caught the attention of many schools already. The 6-1 185 pound athlete plays quarterback and safety for his team, which is currently sitting on a 5-2 record.

Martay Mattox - Profile

Which schools are currently recruiting you?

"Georgia, Clemson, North Carolina State, Florida State, South Florida, UCF, Michigan, and Virginia are all recruiting me. Georgia Tech is recruiting him as an athlete. Most of all the other schools are recruiting me as a quarterback. That is the position I'd like to play at the next level. Michigan, UCF, South Florida, and Georgia are probably recruiting me the hardest right now."

Still holding one offer from South Florida, Mattox has no favorites.

"No schools have an edge with me right now. I'm trying to check them all out."

He has made two visits already to Georgia's game with LSU and to Georgia Tech for their matchup with North Carolina. How were those visits?

Georgia Tech - "It was pretty good. I got to see their Yellow Jacket Alley. I also talked to a few of their players and a couple of coaches. It was pretty good."

Georgia - "I liked it a lot. I got to meet a couple of their coaches. I talked to a couple players. I really enjoyed the game though and I like the fan base."

Mattox also said he is planning to go visit Florida State and that he might fly out to Michigan for a visit.

So, being from Athens, did Mattox grow up a UGA fan?

"You could say that, I guess. They're not really my favorite team though. I like to watch a lot of different teams."

Mattox mentioned most schools talking to him wanted him as a quarterback, but said that Georgia Tech wanted him as an athlete. If Georgia Tech were to recruit him as a quarterback, could that change things? What does he think of running their style of offense?

"Well, I don't really like the triple option offense very much. I am more into the shotgun type of thing."

Martay is still waiting for more offers and is looking forward to making more visits. He has no idea about when he might make a decision. He has plenty of time, though, so what will he be looking for in choosing a school?

"I'll be looking at who's doing good, who's winning. I also am looking at how they play the quarterback. The history, the coaches, all that stuff is important."
